The "new" KEY's Grand-Opening

Since the mid 1990's our agency has provided Residential Treatment for women and their children (if they are lucky enough to still have custody of them) in a cramped, non-handicapped accessible rented building called the KEY (right) that held only 10 women and 3 children at a time. On average, the women needing help have 2 preschool age children and some are pregnant at the time of admission.
This means barely 60% of the county's needs have met and the sad fact that approximately 20 women are always on a waiting list for either Outpatient or Residential Treatment. The longer a chronic user/abuser waits, the greater the chance that she will disappear or die before treatment is available. This is about to change...
In
2007 LCADA purchased Lorain Manor (left), a former
nursing home. This new facility will house all of LCADA's Women's
Programs-Outpatient Programs, our Residential Treatment Program as well as
the Women's Aftercare Program. With this larger building, we plan to
increase Residential Treatment bed space to 16 beds and allow each woman in
residence to have up to 3 children with them while they undergo treatment!
This will also increase the
number of women served in our Outpatient Programs significantly.

The new KEY is safe, up-to-date, includes residential and treatment space, as well as a clinic where some medical services can be provided. There is a community room that is large enough to provide services to the client's entire family and will be available for outside groups from the community that need meeting space. In addition to the above, a children's treatment area and nursery will be provided and more children as well as women will benefit from the program. At LCADA, over the last 4 years, successful treatment of pregnant, drug dependent females resulted in the birth of 25 drug-free babies. 82% of clients completing treatment at LCADA remained clean and sober after 300 days (the State average is 66%). LCADA's new and larger KEY will allow more successes and the lives of women and children to be changed forever. For a video tour of the new KEY, click here.
